Q1 2024 Economic Indicator Report
The U.S. job market saw a strong start to 2024 with an increase in new jobs and active hiring. However, companies are taking longer to fill positions, with the average job posting time rising.
LinkUp’s Q1 2024 job data reveals a robust job market with intensifying labor demand. Approximately 367,300 positions were added to the U.S. economy, reflecting a 7.5% increase. This increase is further underscored by a 4.3% rise in removed jobs, suggesting a competitive hiring landscape with companies actively filling vacancies. However, the data also shows a slowdown in hiring velocity. The average time a job listing remains active rose to 47.6 days, representing a 3.4-day increase compared to Q4 2023. This trend suggests companies may be taking longer to find candidates to fill open positions.
