Jobs data supports new strategy for Gap, Old Navy
Gap Inc. announced this month that it plans to split into “two independently traded companies,” one being Old Navy, and another comprised of Gap and its other brands, including Banana Republic and Athleta.
Gap Inc. announced this month that it plans to split into “two independently traded companies,” one being Old Navy, and another comprised of Gap and its other brands, including Banana Republic and Athleta.
The reason for the split is the differing trajectories of the brands. Old Navy has been a stronger brand for years, and requires a different growth strategy than the other brands. This change is expected to take place in 2020 and is subject to final approval by Gap’s board of directors.
While brand revenue signaled the discrepancy of strength among Gap brands and Old Navy, job listing data provides similar insights.
We took a look at the job listings in our database for each brand and found that Old Navy has almost 600 more job openings than the next closest Gap sub-brand.
